    For a horse that was griped a pail of stout-hot and ginger in it and trot him up and down till he "sweats".
    For timber tongue - salt and water were given.
    Dandelion and nettles are chopped and put through the food for weak turkeys.
    For fowl who are getting "the disease", locally called "the pips" tansy and tobacco put through their food cures them. But any of them that die of this disease must be burned.
    A pail of pickle was given to cattle suffering from "red water."
    Bluestone was rubbed to "ringworms" in cattle.
    For calves having a gripe, some kind of a trick called "Slíme na bpaiste" was performed over them. This consisted of knotting and over knotting a lace while saying some words and when the ends were drawn, there was no knot.
    For cows suffering from a "start" 1 1/2 lbs. salts and 1 lb. sulphur dissolved in hot porter was given.
    For a disease called "Dry muru" - 2 lbs: of unsalted lard is melted and given.
    Garlic chopped up and given in the food cures "Blackwater"
    For "Blain," the gums of the animal are cut to get it bleeding. Often the ear is put bleeding.
    For strangles in horses, paraffin oil is used.
