    The Pump, (con't)
And sink in the morning as black as pit coal,
I'm prepared to swear what I say to be true
If you drink of this water hereafter you'll rue
Enteric and Typhoid will be the result,
And Tuberculosis will seize each adult,
    Constipation, distention, acidity sour
And a sinking sensation will replace power.
Assemble in thousands, fall in and we'll march,
To Limerick City before we will parch
From the thirst that's prevailing we'll die by the way,
If we don't get a font from the slopes of Slieve Rea.
It won't cost very much for Fahey is the man
That's willing to give all the help that he can.
There will be evacuations quite over a mile,
And the fountain will be in the Phoenix Park style.
So stand up together who need the supply
If we don't get the water, ere long we shall die.
I speak for my townsmen with kindest regard
I am yours, as ever, the old village Bard.

    in Oct. 1938, aged 90.
