“The White Knight had a residence in Dungrud as well as in Kilbehenny.”
The White Knight had a residence in Dungrud as well as in Kilbehenny. His property was of course fully stocked and let out to tenants.In Dungrud, which is near Aherlon he had a powerful neighbour named Burke, and the two were enemies and were constantly attacking each other. At that particular time the White Knight had a regiment of 300 foot and 200 horse soldiers here at Kilbehenny Castle. Burke came with a strong party and attacked here and succeeded in carrying off cattle to the Round Hill which is about 1/4 mile above the castle. The White Knight and his soldiers followed and took Burke captive. Now, the White Knight had a man named Diarmuid Fitzgerald as leader of his army. From what can be learned locally this Diarmuid must have been a very fierce, cruel man. Seeing that Burke who was constantly attacking him was now in(continues on next page)- Informant
