    nights in succession would of course immediately organize a select party of their most courageous and determined friends, then as the weird hour of midnight was approaching and well supplied with all classes of defensive weapons including an abundance of holy water, the treasure seekers assembled in the vicinity of the money hole and try conclusions with its enchanted guardian.
    Yet though the courage and determination of these midnight adventurers was almost equal to the emergency, though they freely “poured the spirits down” to nerve themselves for the dangerous ordeal and kept the holy water sprayed around them in concentric circles through which the dreadful spirit bull dare not penetrate, still though compelled to remain outside these protecting circles his vehemence became so appalling, his thunderous bellowing so deafening, whilst emitting tongues of unearthly flame from his eyes and mouth that the treasure seekers
