    were always diverted from their original intentions. As the golden glimmer of early dawn illuminated the eastern horizon they were compelled to struggle to their respective homes thoroughly exhausted both physically and mentally to have their fruitless efforts renewed by some credulous dreamer of a new generation.
    Seanachies of Loughgur also remarked that these men on the night appointed went around to collect a party, they were invariably prevented from carrying out their ideas through the unexpected death of one of these men or some relative of theirs. The last attempt was made a little over 40 years ago. The whole party assembled and entered the nearest whiskey tavern for necessary refreshments, but as the old master of the establishment had just died before they entered they relinquished the enterprise, attributing the death as usual to the interference of the enchanted guardian of the money hole
