  1. An old couple lived in Cappamore village some years ago. They both had hasty tempers but the old woman usually got the better of the old man in their frequent quarrels.
    One evening, as they were having supper, an argument arose between them. The old woman made for the sweeping brush but the old man fled to the bedroom and went under the bed. She followed him and pushed the sweeping brush under the bed after him shouting with each jab "come out, you coward."
    "I will not," came the reply from under the bed, "I'll stay here and die like a man."
