  1. Cromwell passed through this district and watered his horses at the ford of Gurtnagarde, which is only two fields away from here. A body of Cromwell's troops passed through this place on their way to Cappamore.
    This is a story about Cromwell. One day, he hired a man to weed his garden and paid him a half crown. On coming back later in the day he asked the man for the half crown. The man refused to part with it and Cromwell shot him dead.
