“When St. Patrick visited Cullen there dwelt a king who had a son that was very ill.”
197When St. Patrick visited Cullen there dwelt a king who had a son that was very ill. During St. Patrick's visit he called to the king to preach the faith. He promised to cure his son if they would become Catholics. The king agreed and said he would give him some money. St Patrick would not accept any money as a reward. The request he asked was to erect four stones on the summit of four hills. There is only one of these stones standing and that is the stone in Longstone. That is how they townsland got its name.
