  1. In former times there were not so many doctors, as we have now and they were not able to cure as much sickness as the doctors do now-a-days. So people had to depend on other people who had cures for different ailments.
    Here are some of them.
    Food left behind after a ferret is a cure for whooping cough.
    A cure for a burn is to lick a lizard.
    The water left after cooling irons in the forge is a cure for chilblains.
    The seventh son or daughter has a cure for wildfire.
    There is a Holy Well named St Kiernan's not far from this district which cures sore eyes. If you visit the well three times and bathe your eyes with the water it will cure them.
