May and August are the unlucky months for marriage. The were matches made There was a dowry of money given to the bride. The marriage took place in the church. The feast was held in the bride's house. Exactly a month after the marriage a feast was held in the bride's house which was called the "hauling-home".
The were men who used to make matches always in this district. A man who wanted to get married used to ask one of these match-makers to make a match between him and some girl. Straw-boys were not in this district- Informant
