Told by Tom Deegan aged about 30 yrs - In former days in this locality two fellows were great pals. One of them decided to go to America but had not sufficient money to pay his passage. His comrade gave it to him and for h is kindness he promised to do him a good turn living or dead.
They communicated regularly for a few years then the friendship died away. He that remained at home was coming from town late at night and had to cross a field and lost his way. He fell into a river and broke his leg. About the same time a man called at this home asking for help to rescue his companion. They went(continues on next page)
