The Champion grows best in this district. In olden days the people made starch from potatoes. The raw potato is pulverized by means of a grater. This pulp is left standing for a time when it forms into a clammy liquid substance. Then it is put into a muslin bag squeezed thoroughly until all the water comes off. This liquid is the starch in a raw state.
