    and eventually in a big storm, crashed and rolled down the hill, leaving behind a broken heap of masonry, which still caps the hill and is now all that remains of "Lanigan's Folly".
    It may be of interest to note that a descendant of that Lanigan O'Keefe who built the tower is now High Commissioner of Southern Rodesia.
    The Lanigan family came to Glenaguile in the early part of the eighteenth century. They were allotted all the lands of Glenaguile and Gurtagarry by Lord Orkney, whose tomb can still be seen in the graveyard of Latteragh.
    It is recorded that Lanigan evicted eighty tenants in one day. The greater part of these went to Australia.
