Many herbs were used for medicinal purposes. Goultic Bog Bean was used for Kidney trouble. Marsh Marigold for sprains. The Dandelion as a blood purifier. The Yarrow weed for Rheumatism.
Leeches were in common use when a skull was fractured.
There was an old woman in these parts who used to cure Yellow Jaundice. She used to get a lot of herbs and boil them.Then they were put under the patient's bed in a hot room and after a few days on the bed the jaundice would be cured.
When a person had worms they were rubbed with garlic on nine consecutive mornings to effect a cure.- Informant
