- In olden days, the people were very different in their method of working to what they are in these days. It was always their custom to start putting down their crops on Good Friday. If a family were to remove from one place to another it was on a Friday they would go. In the springtime when people would be letting out their cattle on grass it was always ona Friday they would put them out. Monday is an unlucky day for cutting hair. Thursday is a lucky day to make butter.
