- Many years ago an English gentleman loved in Shallee House. There was a big party in the house one day and at dinner the conversation turned to people who had large appetites. Each gentleman told about somebody he knew who had a big appetite. The host said that there was a man in Shallee who could eat a calf at one meal. None of the others would believe this story and they made a bet with the host that he would not bring the man before them and let them see him eating a calf. The host agreed.(continues on next page)
