- Where Joseph Comeford has the butchers stall now was once a dwelling house which was occupied years ago by an old shoe-maker. After his death several people who occupied the house from time to time, used to hear at twelve o'clock every night hammering exactly like that of a shoe-maker's last. It continued so much that after a time the house was left unoccupied. The noise was heard in the no later than the time when the Gardai occupied Nurse Davy's house.
