    back door and gave the poor woman the fright of her life. The soldiers were fleeing before the onslaught of their country opponents and sought shelter wherever they could get it. I used to hear that one officer and some soldiers died as a result of that fray.
    The Government removed that Regiment at once from Templemore for fear of further outbreaks of trouble between the soldiers and the civilian population. It used be told in connection with that same battle of Aughall that the consequences would have been much more serious were it not for the action taken by Dr. O'Connor P.P. and Mr. John Lanigan M.P. then a resident of Richmond.
