   as a dowry. The wedding feast is sometimes held in the bride's house and sometimes in the bridegroom's house and sometimes in a hotel. A wedding procession is not held but a "hauling home" is held. A "hauling home" is a feast held a month after the marriage in either the bride's or bridegroom's home. Marriages used be held in houses about two hundred years ago. The people used to race against each other and the husband and wife used sit on the one horse. Pillion horses they used to have.

   2. Shrove is the usual time of the year that people get married. Saturday and the month of May are supposed to be unlucky times to get married. The pair getting married should wear something borrowed. Another custom is when they are leaving the church to throw an old boot or rice at them. Money is mostly given as a dowry. Sometimes stock is given. The bride is supposed to be at the church the first. It is in the bride's house the wedding feast
