    their cures. For instance it was said that if a person who had a toothache put a live frog into his mouth three times the pain was sure to go. Again a cure for the chin cough was for the patient to go under a white ass three times.
    In olden times the people had great faith in the power of God and his Saints. Long ago the Saints blessed wells. The wells were much used for curing sore eyes and other diseases.
    We also hear in this district of another cute for a burn. It consists of boiling ivy leaves and then mixing them with lard. Probably in every place in Ireland is the old cure for a bleeding nose, that of putting something cold like a penny or key down one's back.
