   For breakfast porridge made from oaten meal and yellow meal was made and eaten with skimmed milk. The milk was drunk from a wooden mug called a peggin or noggan. For dinner:- potatoes and milk and sometimes eggs. Supper like either breakfast or dinner Three meals only were taken each day. Barley bread oaten bread and wheaten bread were used.
