(There was a Hedge school in about a mile (and a) from the village of Drom. There was a man teaching in the school).
(In the year 1880 there was a wandering teacher).
    (About lur).
There was a very old school a few yards from the present Palatine College in Kickham St, Thurles. The master was from around the district and he knew a lot of Latin. He taught Dr. Fennelly Archbishop of Cashel Latin. The boys that were learning brought a penny or more if they could afford it and that's the way the master was paid. There were a few more about a hundred years ago out the country side of Kickham St. and the master was paid the same way. There was a lot of Irish taught in them.
