- The game that is most popular in this parish is hurling. Every school boy has a hurley. I would prefer hurling to any other game. There are many other games such as spinning top. The top is a round piece of wood with a spike in the end. It is spun with a whip. The pegging top is the best because it keeps going the longest. It is spun with a strap of leather which is wound around it.
Skittles is also a very popular game. The skittles are round pieces of sticks, and then there are big pieces of sticks to knock them with. They are all numbered and are put standing in a ring. Then boys take turns firing at them. The first boy who gets the biggest number wins the game.- Collector
