  1. In a three-acre field near the castle of Castle Coine there resided a beautiful lady and a white terrier said to be minding a crock of gold. On the crock is said to be a big gate. The owener of the land is John Costigan. One day as his father was ploughing the field he saw a beautiful big stone. It was near dinner hour and he said that he would leave it there until after dinner.
    When he came out after dinner to dig the stone he could not get it. When the field is being plouged the horses turn at the place where the crock of gold is said to be hid. It was hidden there by the Danes.
    One night in Summer time a band of men were saveing hay up in Balldoyle and they stayed very late there. When they were coming out the gate they met men going in a
