    Barretstown Castle is situated about one mile from Fethard.

    Barretstown Castle is situated about one mile from Tiethard. It was occupied by a family called Powers. It has a winding stone stairs leading right to the top. The remains of the foundation of the old mansion is still visible. There are two gate entrances leading from the West.
    There is supposed hidden treasure - a crock of gold underneath the Castle and a turkey cock is said to be watching it.
