- Long ago there were pipes sold in Nine-mile-house. A man lived there that used to make clay pipes and sell them. He had a mark on every pipe he sold so that he would know if any body else was making pipes. when he would get a broken pipe to mend he would carefully examine it to see if his mark was on it, if it was not, he would not mend it.
