- (continued from previous page)that the fairies changed the money into ivy leaves, for the flag was supposed to be lifted by two men.
Harleypark is five miles from Callow, Co. Kilkenny. - My grandfather told me, that there is gold hidden underneath the Castle of Modeshill. He said that a man went digging for it, and that he was killed by something. He told me, that my great-grandfather and another man went to dig for the gold. When they had the gold almost got, something happened to them. The other man was killed and my great-grandfather went home and he never got up from the bed again. What ever happened to him, he would not tell. He said that there is another man to lose his life before the gold will be got. The next morning, the people went up to the castle, and there was no sign of the place where they were digging, for the hole was filled in again.Modeshill Castle - at Modeshill, Mullinahone, Co Tipperary.
