  1. One night about twelve o'clock as a man was crossing home from Ardfinnan he heard something moaning but he could not see any thing. He walked on for some distance and then he was in another field when he saw something in the corner of the field wearing a long white dress. He walked over towards it and it kept standing still and it was a woman combing her hair. He ran after her and she dropped the comb and he took it up. That night when he was in bed he heard knocks at the window and he also heard moaning. He slept for a while and then he woke and saw something at the window. He got up and he put the comb into a tongs and he gave it out the window to her and when she was taking it she took half the tongs with her.
