My Grandfather used to mow an acre of corn in a day. A woman named Mary Hennessy used to cut enough of Sgiolans for a half acre in a day.
- The best mower in this district was Michael Leonard. He used to mow an acre of hay in a day. He went one day to cut a field of hay with Tom McGrath and he "bet" him by sixteen feet.
- The best plougher in this district was Tom Fitzgerald from Skeheenaranky. He used to plough an acre of ground in a day.
