Sweetmaking - She told me that she remembered as a child buying "Sugar-cane" or "Peggy's Leg" as she called it at the ouse of one called Judy Orchard who lived in Bansha near where the present diused Court House is situated. There "sweets were made from brown sugar and treacle boiled in a large pot until you had a thick brown substance of the consistency of soft "putty".
