One of the best walkers of the last century was Mr. Mackey of Faugheen Co. Tipperary.
He used to walk four miles away from his home. he used to walk there every morning and home again in the evening. If he thought he was late he would go through the fields the distance of three and a half miles.
He could walk to limerick in less than two hours - a distance of twenty miles on the new road and was about twice the length of the road he had to travel.
