- Local Cures. This is the cure for the whooping cough. Get a turnip and peel it cutting in thin slices. Place in a china bowl or basin with brown sugar in alternate layers. Leave over night to form a syrup. A teaspoonful given to a child helps to bring up the phlegm . Also the white of an egg, beaten well with a little viegar is a very old remedy.
The leaves of blackberries are very useful for hoarseness and affection of the throat.
Caroway seeds. Used for relieving flatulance and stomach disorders and childrens ailments.(continues on next page)- Informant
