St. Stephen's Day which falls on Dec. 26th is observed in this town by Wren-boys who go singing the Wren-song from house to house. They dress in picturesque costumes, and are very funny to see. They also carry decorated bushes. The word of the Wren-song go thus--
"As I was going to Killenaule
I met a wren upon the wall
I put up my stick and I knocked him down
And I brought him to Tipperary town.
We're hunting this wren all day all day
Through mud through mire through yellow clay
