I said "fair maid the truth you say".
I am of a low degree,
For I am but a poor window's son,
    And you a rich Lady'e,
But it is true that I am caught in the chains of love,
And don't know what to do
Like a real man I wandered on
From the shade of sweet Carhue.

Now to conclude and to make an end.
    And let all loves be.
    I was but a poor widow's son
And I gained this rich lady'e.
Miss Mary Jame is my love's name
And for ever I prove true.
And we both will live in that rosy cot.
By the shade of Sweet Carhue.
