- In Lissycasey long ago May night was thought to be a great night of piseóga. People believed that their butter could be taken away by others. A great many things were done to prevent this. People got a lump of salt and left it under a white thorn bush May night after sunset. It was taken before sunrise in the morning. Every time during the year they made butter they put a pinch of this salt in the churn. The people believed that this prevented anyone from bringing their butter.
