After that there were many attempts made to get the gold but all in vain. Seven years after-wards a fisher-man was passing the abbey in his boat, and he saw the gold and vestments, and brought other men to his aid, but when he returned the door was gone. It is said that he who sees the gold, and does not take possession of it immediately will never see it again.
