On the 1st May 1890 John Fitzgibbons, a herdsman, who was herding a disputed farm for a man named Callinan was wounded at Soilshane, near the village of Inagh.Fitzgibbons went to give hay to some cattle in an outhouse on the farm.When he opened the door of the outhouse a man fired him point blank from a revolver.The bullet would have pierced him, but it hit the buckle of his braces, went around inside the skin and stuck in his backbone.Nobody was arrested for this deed.Poor Fitzgibbons is still living and is enjoying his old age pension.
