Ar an leathanach seo
- (ar lean ón leathanach roimhe)it on which the bread was also baked. Sometimes the griddle was hung over the fire with pot-hooks. Bread was also made from oat-meal and it was considered a very wholesome cake. Bread was only eaten in Christmas and on very rare occasions during the year. A cross was cut on the cake before put doen to bake. When flour first came from England it was of a dark brown and it could not be baked or used. The best of the flour was left for the soldiers as the big war was on at that time.
