    There was a witch in Co. Clare about 60 or 70 years ago. She was named Biddy Earley. This women could cure certain diseases and the clergy believe that it was through the agency of the devil she got this charm. She used to invoke the name of the Blessed trinity before she cured anyone. People from other countries used to come to visit the witch. She used to take only i from anyone but she was ready to take any presents offered.
    It is said that Biddy had a magic bottle. A man named Costello brought in a number of people to cottage. Costello plied them with drink and the witch and all her household effects were thrown out and her cottage was set in flames. Costello got hold of the magic bottle and thought to break it saying that her witch craft was now at an end she said to him "I will die in peace while you will go like the froth of the
