- Long ago people used used to make baskets out of hazel rods. They used to stick the rods on the ground and plat more around them and a bottom. They used make candles out of goats tallow by melting and pouring a mould and leave it there until it is hard.

- There were many candlemakers in Ennistymon about sixty years ago. The candles were made from goats and sheeps tallowThe country people were great for making baskets, some women made three baskets per day. The weavers of Ennistymon are nearly all dead.
