When beasts are sold at the fair they are generally marked with a "raddle". Other people mark them with tar or mud or cut a piece of the hair off their backs with a scissors.
In this district long ago there were two fairs which are not held now. One of these was in a place called "Stúich" in Tiermana East and the other was held near the graveyard in Kilmurray.
There was a noted fair in Kilmurray. It used hold for a week. There used be from eight to ten fairs there during the year. The two principal fairs used to be held on the seventeenth of May and the fifteenth of July. One day used be set aside for cattle, one day for horses, another day for pigs while a fourth day was set aside for sheep.
