- My home district is Rathealy. It is in the parish of Tullaroan and the county Kilkenny Crannagh is the name of the barony it is in.
There are nine houses in it and the are thrirthy-five people living in it. There are about three people over seventy years of age. None of them knows any Irish because Irish wasn't spoken here for more than one hundred and fifty years.
Rathealy got its name from a big rath that was in it. It belonged to Cealys. The land is hilly but there is no waste land in it. There are about seven hundred and fifty acrs in it altogether.- Collector
