  1. A funny story
Some years ago thee was a certain man who was very fond of drink. He would take the pledge occassionally and break it again.
One day the Parish Priest came and says "John you must take the pledge now, and if you break it I shall turn you in to a rat. However the man took the pledge and kept it for a few months.
He went to the fair one day and met some friends and as usual broke the pledge. The Parish Priest hearing this called to see him. John was in the room and saw the Priest coming down the boreen, and he says to his wife, "Biddy, Biddy, Biddy, here comes the Parish Priest, and when the hair starts to grow on me you keep your eye on the cat.
I got this story from my father.
