  1. Long ago the old people had their own cures for certain things. If anyone had the toothache they would smoke brown paper in a pipe to cure it. Another old cure for the toothache is÷ To get a red hot penny and put it in a glass of whiskey and then drink the whiskey. Some people chew the roots of the wild Iris to cure the toothache. The cure they had long ago for the mumps was÷ To put a pair of donkey's winkers on you and roll in the pig's bed saying
