    (d) If the ducks quack loudly.
    (e) If the hens are to be seen pluming their feathers.
    (f) If it is late when the hens roost.
    (g) If soot falls down the chimney.
    (h) If the far-away hills seem near.
    (i) If you can see silver threads from one blade of grass to the other
    (j) If ditches and walls get damp
    (k) If trees are reflected in water.
    (l) If ants are seen flying.
    (m) If midges fly low.
    (n) If the flower called the pimpernell is closed.
    (o) If spiders are seen running about. (or black snails)
    (p) If streaks are seen in the sea.
    It is a sign of storm -
    (a) If the cat sits with her back to the fire
    (b) If blue blazes appear in fire.
