“You may travel that fine through fare ¶ From Reaghstown to Meath-hill”
Local Songs No 1
Colga Lane
You may travel that fine thorough fare
From Reaghstown to Meath Hill
You will see by your way perhaps
Each field and tree and mill
But if observant you may be
And watched each ditch and drain
Unless you have a microscope you'll not see Colga lane
II

And begging Séan the ramblers pardon
He a line like this once penned
III

And later it was found
He couldn't turn back for he couldn't turn round
And when the Dublin powers were asked to get him out again
They sent a corkscrew down to the boys of Colga lane
