Old Graveyards
1 Stickillen (Tig Cillin)
Hundreds of years old. Very few internments take place there now, and those only of members of very ancient Ardee families. Very untidy. Trees growing in a d around it. It contains ruins of old Church. In what appears to have been the sanctuary there is a fairsized holy-water font - made of stone. The water from the font is supposed to cure warts. There are some very ancient crude tombstones, also some modern ones. The oldest dated one is 1761. For married women - 'alias instead of nee'. Some tombstones were placed flat on the graves. People are buried within the ruins of church.See notes & cuttings from Dundalk

in good order.
Kildemock, Stickillen, Shanils, Mapestown,
Charlestown old Graveyard, Churchpark and
Philipstown-These are old burial grounds,
hundreds of years in use, much congested
and hard to keep tidy, but the shrubs, hedges
and grass in all of them require clipping and
attention.
Churchtown-A very old burial ground also.
