  1. Patrick Watters of Grangebellew Dunleer was a great long-distance runner. One day there was a five mile race in Navan for which he had entered. He decided to go to the sports by train from Dunleer. He cycled to Dunleer but when he arrived at the station the train was gone. He jumped on his bicycle and cycled to Drogheda and again the train was gone. He could do nothing then but cycle the fifteen miles to Navan. When he arrived at the sports thew runners were getting ready. He stripped off his clothes put on his top and received his number. He ran in the race and won easily.
