  1. Nearly a century ago there was a wealthy farmer living in the country.
    One day when he was coming home after being at his work in the fields he thought to take a short cut. He was crossing a field when he strode on a stray sod. He made an attempt to reach the gate. It was impossible for matter where he walked nothing faced him but a ditch. After roaming around the field more times than he could count he turned his coat inside out. No sooner had he done this than he opened the gate and went home.
