  1. (continued from previous page)
A nest egg is only a dummy put in to make the hens lay. When hens want to hatch they say "cluck! cluck!"
When turkeys are being called the owners say:- "Bee! Bee! Bee! Bee"
After a hen eats her food it rubs its beak on the ground.
If hens are hatching and thunder comes the chickens in the eggs will die. When hens are hatching they must be put in a dark place. If hens leave their eggs for two hours while hatching the chickens will die.
When a hen has a piece of straw hanging out of her tail it is a sign that a visitor is coming.
The feather out of a turkey's tail make a good cleaner for going into corners.
A hen's food bag is called the "craw" whistles and bugles are made out of fowl's wind pipes. There is very rough hair on a turkey's beak called the brush.
